My Process

For this project I wanted to design through the following constraints:

  • Find & eliminate TARGET

  • Design two ways of reaching the target

    • Guns blazing

    • Stealthy

  • Incorporate puzzle solving

  • Tell a story

Once I had set these constraints, I began setting the narrative premise — keeping it simple and recognizable: Find a target protected by enemy guards.

2D Paper Map & Objective Plan

To help me organize ideas I drew up sketches digitally and created mind maps and flowcharts on Figma.

For this exercise, I sought out to improve my blueprint scripting skills by creating a small design kit. This kit contains:

  • Interactive Items

  • Simple Enemy AI

  • Inventory System & Pickups

  • Objectives

These tools allowed me to replicate common FPS level design mechanics used in puzzle solving, environmental storytelling and simple combat encounters.

These tools were enough to create a simple model for a stealth FPS game.
